Tree felling in Forest Hill & South East London

Sometimes removing a tree is the right answer: it’s dead, dying or diseased, it has become structurally unsafe, it’s damaging a wall or building, or it’s simply the wrong tree in the wrong place.

We’ll always tell you honestly if pruning would do the job instead. When a tree does need to come down, we take it down safely and cleanly, with as little disturbance to your garden and your neighbours as possible.

Sectional felling in tight gardens

Most gardens in South East London have no room to drop a tree in one piece. Our climbers take it down in sections from the top, lowering the heavier pieces on ropes where needed, so nothing lands on roofs, fences, sheds or borders.

Where everything has to come out through the house or a side return, we put floor coverings down first. All the wood and brash is cleared and chipped, and the garden is left tidy.

What happens to the stump

We normally cut the stump as close to the ground as possible. From there it can be ground out below ground level so you can replant or lay turf, left low, or even turned into a feature such as a seat. We’ll talk through the options when we quote.

Before we start

  • We check whether the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or is in a conservation area. If consent is needed, we make the application for you, free when you book the work. See TPO & conservation area applications.
  • We check for nesting birds and bats.
  • We agree exactly which trees are coming down and how the stump will be left. In most cases you get a price on the day, with the written quote emailed after the visit.
